6Fest marked a significant change in #Fest by adopting a charity to partner with. Don’t Break the Bond is a nonprofit organization based in Columbus, Ohio and founded by MJ Warner. The focus of the organization is to provide assistance to children whose parents are incarcerated, and to keep the kids in touch with the parent. This partnership marked a new era in the #FEST history. A portion of every ticket sold was donated back to Don’t Break the Bond in an attempt to give back to the community that supported #FEST.
This started a new tradition for the event: every #FEST since then has partnered with several nonprofit organizations in the state of Ohio. The focus is usually associated with children and cancer research. The focus of the event has changed drastically; it is now as much a charity event as it is an entertainment experience. Ten thousand attendees contributed to the significant donation that was given to Don’t Break the Bond that year.
